About MuseumRoute

MuseumRoute started as a shared spreadsheet. A few of us were traveling through Europe and kept running into the same problem: museum websites are great at selling tickets but terrible at telling you which rooms to prioritize, when to visit, or whether the audio guide is worth the extra fee.

So we started writing the guides ourselves. Each review is based on an actual visit, usually more than one. We note the date, the day of the week, and the weather, because those things affect crowd levels. We time the queues, test different entry strategies, and walk every floor before writing a word.

We cover museums across Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, and we are slowly expanding to other countries. Our focus is on practical visitor information: timing, tickets, routing through galleries, and honest opinions about whether something is worth the price.

This site has no advertising and no affiliate partnerships with ticketing platforms. When we link to a museum's website, it is the official site, nothing else.
